General booking conditions 2018

  • The valid conditions for booking/changing and cancellation must be accepted by the customer before booking the archipelago ferries.
  • The end harbours in Åland are Hummelvik, Långnäs and Svinö, and the end harbours on the mainland of Finland are Osnäs (Vuosnainen) in Kustavi and Galtby in Korppo. Other harbours in the archipelago are called intermediate harbours.
  • Reservations for vehicles can be made up to 1 hour before the departure from the first harbour. Reservations are made online at www.alandstrafiken.ax or to Ålandstrafiken (office hours), tel. +358 (0)18 25 600 if not other notified.
  • Car reservations can be booked online or at Ålandstrafiken (office hours) for trips to and from intermediate harbours if not other notified.
  • The following routes cannot be booked at Ålandstrafiken or online: Svinö-Degerby v.v., Långnäs-Överö v.v. apart from buses that can be booked manually at Ålandstrafiken for route Svinö-Degerby v.v.
  • The following departures can be ordered directly from the respective ferry: Svinö-Degerby v.v., Enklinge-Kumlinge v.v., Asterholma-Lappo-Torsholma v.v. and Åva-Jurmo v.v.
  • A vehicle that arrives later than 5/10/15 minutes before the time of departure loses its reservation without receiving a refund for the prepaid ticket. When 3 late arrivals are detected the customer is denied bookings for 1 year if not other notified.
  • The driver must be able to move the vehicle onboard on request.
  • The customer is responsible for booking the right height, length and weight of the vehicle and the number of passengers. If the vehicle is higher/longer it can be transported if there is space available on the ferry.
  • Åland Provincial Government cannot be held liable in cases when the vehicle cannot be given place onboard due to incorrect information given about height/length/weight.
  • Double bookings (more than one booking for the same day and same route) are not allowed. If a double booking is detected the booking for the most booked departure is erased and the customer is notified of this. After 3 detected double bookings all reservations are denied for 1 year if not other notified.
  • A valid ticket is a season ticket attached to the lower corner on the inner side of windscreen on driver’s side and/or a ticked that is visible above the dashboard. Note that the season ticket holders and invoiced customers shall also be registered when embarking the ferry.
  • If the ticket is lost, a new fee has to be paid according to Transit Fares.
  • Transportations between intermediate harbours are free of charge.
  • In case of traffic delays caused by severe ice conditions a special timetable for ice season is applied. Acknowledgements about introducing ice season’s timetables will be published in local newspapers and on Ålandstrafiken’s website www.alandstrafiken.ax, 7 days in advance.
  • Ambulance transportation always takes precedence over the regular timetable.
  • Åland Provincial Government cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies that may occur in the timetable, and the Åland Government reserves the right to make alterations. In case of hard weather conditions, technical problems or other special circumstances, timetables may be changed and tours may be cancelled.
