General booking conditions 2020

  • When customer has booked a vehicle onboard the archipelago ferries, the customer has approved the booking-/amendment-/cancellation rules including fees. 
  • Bookings are mainly for trips to/from the archipelago if not other notified and can be made up to 1 h before departure from start harbor online or to Ålandstrafiken´s office (office hours) unless stated otherwise.
  • All vehicles can be booked online except tractors, tractors and trailers, vehicles for transit travel, vehicles for goods and fuel transports and buses.
  • The customer is responsible for booking correct height/length/width and weight of the vehicle. If the vehicle is higher/longer/wider/heavier it can only be transported if there is space available on the ferry.
  • The Government of Åland can not be held responsible in cases when the vehicle can not be placed on board due to incorrect information given about height/length/width/weight.
  • End harbours in Åland are Hummelvik, Långnäs and Svinö. End harbours on the mainland of Finland are Osnäs and Galtby. Other harbours are called middle harbours (or intermediate harbours).
  • Trips between middle harbours are free of charge. Passengers travel for free.
  • A valid ticket is a season ticket pasted directly onto the vehicle´s windscreen, shown personal card, vouchers and prepaid ticket. Note that also invoice customer must be checked in when embarking and sign the invoice documentation.
  • Booking is valid for the chosen route, date, departure time and does not entitle to another trip without a amendment/cancellation online or to Ålandstrafiken´s office. 
  • The following routes cannot be booked at Ålandstrafiken or online: Svinö-Degerby v.v., Långnäs-Överö v.v. apart from buses that can be booked manually at Ålandstrafiken for route Svinö-Degerby v.v.
  • A vehicle that arrives later than 5/10/15 minutes before the time of departure (see the timetable) loses its reservation without receiving a refund for the prepaid ticket.
  • The driver must be able to move the vehicle onboard on request.
  • The Government of Åland can not be held responsible for any inaccuracies that may occur in the timetable and reserves the right to make changes.
  • In case of hard weather conditions, technical problems or other special circumstances timetable may be changed and tours can be cancelled.
  • In case of traffic delays caused by severe ice conditions a special timetable for ice season is applied. Acknowledgements about introducing ice season´s timetables will be published in local newspapers and on Ålandstrafiken´s website, 7 days in advance.
  • Ambulance transportation always takes precedence over the regular timetable.
